Dear Hot Yoga Escape Yogi,
February is all about LOVE!!! What is "love"? I think often love is used in the context of deep affection and care for another. I believe the most important love is love for oneself. I must love myself before I can truly offer love, receive love and feel true love around me.
Love yourself? Well......what does that look like and why does it matter. It is so much easier to offer love or talk about loving someone else. Looking in the mirror and into your own beautiful eyes is super uncomfortable for some. I can remember times in my past where I felt deep loneliness and the mirror became my friend. I would sit some long nights and look in my eyes with an intense stare. I have learned through challenging times that I must love myself and all that I am because "only I can truly take care of me". Taking care of me starts with self-love.
Making time to care for myself is a form of powerful self-love. Being patient with myself when I seem to do nothing right that day is self-love. Making time to prepare nutritious food for myself is self-love. Saying "no" to something I really do not have time for is self-love. Disconnecting from electronics for a break is self-love. Setting a goal and doing my best to reach it is self-love. Self-love is taking right action for myself with no judgement. I am perfectly imperfect and I accept my imperfections with love. Self-love is not always easy for sure! It takes practice and mindfulness.
You may or may not know that Lori and I will be away to escape from the cold weather for a few weeks. I am giving myself a little dose of self love with a visit back to Cali. I knew coming back to the winters would be a challenge for me so this brief time away will offer a nice balance. Please know that you will be in good hands with our traveling teacher, Wendy and we will always be available and involved from afar.
So, as you enter the month of "LOVE", ask yourself, "how deep is my self-love"? What can you do to love yourself more? You are the most important person in your world!
I am not in this world to be a martyr. It has taken me a long time to realize that it is OK to take care of me and to not feel bad/guilty about doing it. It's OK to love my dedications and passions in life when they are good for me. It's OK to be my authentic self and to love me!
I wish you much self-love and a very Happy Valentine's Day! (& a little dark chocolate!)
With deep love and appreciation,
Charlene

Message from HYE Foundation
What an amazing start to 2018! HYEF is making a stride to "Getting Clean in '18." Our first fundraiser of the year was in partnership with Andrea Inverso and her Norwex business. It is amazing how many harmful chemicals and toxins that we all take in to our bodies on a daily basis! I am so pleased that not only are we promoting healthy living; but also are able to continue to make a difference with the community.
Our application is live on our website: www.hotyogaescapefoundation.org. So please, if you know of anyone that could benefit from assistance due to hardship or circumstance; please direct them there to start receiving assistance, if approved.
Speaking of assistance. Did you know that you could help HYEF without even spending any money that you don't already spend? Amazon SMILE, and Kroger Community Rewards have accepted HYEF as recipients to their programs. Essentially both companies will donate a portion of your purchases to the foundation on a quarterly basis; and all you have to do is sign up. Visit our website and click on the "support" page for more details and a link to sign up.
We are really excited for what is coming up in the Spring; so please stay updated by visiting the site; and look for more information popping up at the studio on a more consistent basis. Our next meeting is Wednesday, February 21 at 7pm. Feel free to come and find out about how you can join a committee, or just in case you want to have a better idea of what we are about.
Have a great month!
